What is RSS?
RSS is a way to get your favorite news and resources coming to you from your favorite Web sites instead of having to go to each of those Web sites looking for new information.

Why use RSS?
Using RSS feeds is helpful because it saves you time. It's like getting the morning paper delivered to your computer, except better because (1) You get to choose the news topics that get delivered, (2) it's not just from a single source, but from many sources that you can choose from, and (3) it constantly delivers the news so you have the lastest changes at any moment.

How do I get started?
There are 2 steps to getting started using RSS feeds:

Step #1
The first step is you need a home for reading new posts. This is a website called an RSS reader. It's free to set up an account. Google Reader, Bloglines, Newsgator, and My Yahoo! are good places to start. You may also have an RSS reader built into your Web browser.

Step #2
Step number two, is to set up a connection between your reader and your favorite websites. This is called subscribing. Nearly every blog and news site offers the ability for you to subscribe so updates in these sites show up here in your reader.

To set up these subscriptions, you just need to look for RSS feed icons. RSS iconThis is the standard one using the standard orange color. Once you find one of these buttons on your favorite site, click on it and the page that appears will give you everything you need to subscribe to it.

That's all there is to it!
